In the proclamation 1321 by the then president Gloria Arroyo in 2007, July 20 was declared Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) awareness day to stress the importance of recognizing risk factors causing PAD, detecting it early and treating it early to avoid limb amputation. It was spear headed by Institute of the Studies of Diabetes Foundation (ISDF) and Otsuka Pharmaceutical Inc. involving at least 100 accredited diabetes centers nationwide in cooperation also with PSVM.

This years event was held in July 10 in Park Mall, Cebu, July 17, Abreeza Mall, Davao and Robinson’s Mall, Rizal last July 24, 2016 on a Sunday with key representatives from PSVM (Dr. Marie Simonette Ganzon, Dr. Joel Paz), ISDF (Dr.Mimi Miranda, member of ISDF ) and Otsuka (Ms. Annalyn Tanawan, Product Manager). A string of fun-filled activities were done including: group zumba exercises, lay lectures on PAD and diabetes, and free ABI were done.
